Maria Rodriguez

Candidate U.S. Congress 3rd District

María Teresa Rodriguez is a nurse, small business owner, mother, and proud American citizen running for the United States Congress to represent Kentucky’s 3rd District.

Her life story reflects perseverance, faith, and a deep commitment to the principles of freedom and opportunity that define the United States.

Born and raised in Cuba during the communist regime established under Fidel Castro, María grew up witnessing firsthand the consequences of political oppression. Her mother, a devout Catholic and pro-life advocate, faced harassment, threats, and imprisonment for defending her faith and beliefs. María herself experienced discrimination when she was denied educational opportunities because of her family’s convictions. These early experiences shaped her lifelong appreciation for liberty and justice.

After an eleven year legal journey seeking asylum, María arrived in America at age twenty-one, determined to build a better future. She worked tirelessly to learn English, support her family, and pursue her education. She eventually became a U.S. citizen—an achievement she considers one of the greatest honors of her life.

María built a small business from the ground up, gaining firsthand experience in entrepreneurship, hard work, and economic responsibility. Later, as a single mother raising two children, she returned to school and earned her nursing degree.

Today, she serves as a trauma nurse in Louisville, where she provides critical care to patients during their most vulnerable moments. Her work on the front lines of healthcare has strengthened her commitment to serving others and her community.

María is running for Congress to defend the freedoms she once lived without. She believes strongly in free enterprise, safe communities, legal immigration, and protecting the constitutional rights of all Americans.

Her journey, from political persecution to public service, has instilled in her a deep respect for the American Dream and a determination to preserve it for future generations.

María also draws inspiration from America’s history and values, sharing a birthday with Abraham Lincoln, whose legacy of preserving freedom and unity continues to inspire her commitment to public service.

As a nurse, entrepreneur, immigrant, and mother, María Teresa Rodriguez offers a unique perspective grounded in real-world experience, resilience, and an unwavering belief in the promise of America.
